Mallard Duck
This is probably the most famous duck image Audubon illustrated. It is a well known species, Mallards can be found throughout North America.
The male Mallard has a very distinct iridescent green head with a bright yellow bill.
The female Mallard are mottled brown with more of an orange bill. The Mallard is extremely well adapted to live in a variety of wetland habitats, including rivers, marshes, pond, lakes, or even in a backyard.
